How To Effectively Follow Up With Prospects

What kind of income would you like to make in network marketing?

Would you like to:

  • Make $1,000/month
  • Earn $100,000/year
  • Build a multi-million dollar business over time?

Most people will never make a significant income in network marketing. Most people don’t make a lot of money in anything.

But with network marketing, it’s possible! And that’s what got me excited 17 years ago! I got excited about the possibility to make enough money to not have to have a job and not have to work for somebody else. But I also understood that it was going to take time and effort. And a lot of closing!

So inside this training, you’ll find the best and most effective ways to follow up with prospects without sounding salesy! These methods have worked for me and that’s why I want to share them with you. Let’s do this!

How To Effectively Follow Up With Prospects

It’s All Connected

The first thing you need to understand is that it’s all connected. Prospecting, creating engagement, following up — it’s all intertwined.

Yes! Your main goal as a Network Marketer should be to create conversations. We’re professional conversation starters, after all! So try and get more people in your network and talk to them!

IMP: Don’t get stuck on people’s potential! Sometimes we prospect people who have all the potential in the world but they just don’t want to do the work. Some will, some won’t, some wait, NEXT!

Improve Your Posture

One of the most crucial skills you need to master is persuasion. It will take time but you will get better at it.

Start here. What is your WHY?

You need to be clear on 2 things:

  1. Why you started a home business
  2. Why you chose the company you’re with or the product you’re offering

Then simply start asking your prospects questions. Create a list of bullet points and instead of listing all the benefits, talk about your story and ask them questions such as:

  • “What are you looking for?”
  • “Have you tried anything else?”
  • “What’s gotten you in the situation where you feel like you need a change? / What’s missing in your business?”

IMP: Sometimes, it’s good to hop on a call with someone. That way you’ll be able to connect to the person much faster. And as we know, people do business with people they know, like and trust.

Bring It Up Already

Q: When and how should I bring up my product or opportunity?

A: Just do it!

Yes! Don’t overthink it! All you have to do is ask them what they’re been up to and then transition into popping the question. You can say something like, “Listen, I’m reaching out to you for two reasons: 1st, we haven’t spoken before / it’s been a while and I wanted to catch up, and the 2nd reason is that I wanted to share with you something we’ve got going on. If you’re open, great. If not — no worries.”

That’s it! It’s that simple! And make sure you don’t create any pressure. Your prospects need to feel like they can tell you “no”. That will increase your credibility and trustworthiness in their eyes.

You Have A Miracle in Your Mouth

You need to understand that you’ve got a gift. You’ve got this miracle in your mouth and you’re the one that has a life-changing opportunity to offer to your prospects!

That’s why it’s crucial to never make it about you. Make it about them! Your mindset should be, “They’re lucky I’m prospecting them.” And make sure you let them know that you have limited time because you want to help as many people as you can!

When you’re chatting with a prospect who’s interested, tell them, “I’m really serious about helping you accomplish your goals and get the ball rolling but let me ask you a few questions, ‘Are you coachable? Can you follow instruction?’ Because we have a system that works but it’s going to be a little uncomfortable.”

IMP: It’s crucial to set the right expectations right off the bat!

Use Instagram & Facebook

Are you using Facebook & Instagram Stories? If you’ve been staying up-to-date with all the algorithm changes lately, you’ve probably noticed that a big portion of content creation is shifting to Stories. That reflects on the newsfeed — regular posts on your feed will get less engagement than your Stories! So what can you do?

Use the power of Stories to your advantage!

For example, if you have someone who you’re following up with and he/she is not responding to your message, engage with their Stories (or their newsfeed). It’s the Law of Reciprocity — if you want more engagement, you need to give more engagement!

Help Your Prospects Succeed Right Away

Did you get your prospects signed up? Great! But that’s only half of the work! You need to help them succeed! Because once they see it’s actually possible, they’ll have a much higher motivation to stay and develop.

Plant seeds of simplicity. We like the “All you have to do is” Method. We use it with our  Strategy and it goes like this: we tell our prospects, “Do you want to see results? All you have to do is add a person to this Facebook Group. Then all you have to do is tag them in this video. And finally, all you have to do is message them to see how they liked it.”

The simpler the process, the easier it would be for people to understand that they’re able to achieve big results!

Ask Closing Questions

You have to ask closing questions even if you’re not about to close. For example, you can say something like this:

  • “What did you like best?”
  • “If you were to get started, what results would you be looking to get?”
  • “Awesome, that sounds great. When did you want to get started? I can help you and walk you through the process. Once you get started, we’re going to get you plugged into our team training group, that’s only for distributors. There, we’ll teach you the basics to help you launch your business and create results.”

You don’t want your prospects to chase the information they need. That’s why it’s good to explain to them the process, even if you’re just on the prospecting stage.

Get Organized

Half of success is organization. Are you using a CRM or a Google Doc? Do you keep track on your computer or on your phone? It doesn’t matter — you need to get organized with your follow ups and you need to know where you are in the process with each of the people you’ve exposed.

If you want to be a lean, mean, prospecting and recruiting machine, you can’t let people slip through the cracks. Figure out what works for you and just do it!

Have A Tight Schedule

Most people have a stable schedule. They go to work at 9 am, then they come back home at 5 pm. But you don’t have a schedule in your business. You’re working at it when you feel like it or when you have some free time. But if you treat your business like a hobby, your results will reflect it. So what can you do?

Set aside 1 hour per day and dedicate it just to your money-making activities! Turn off your phone, close the door — do whatever you need to do in order to eliminate your distractions, and use that 1 hour to prospect and follow up!

IMP: Don’t get hung up on the results — don’t care if people say “no” or if people blow you off. In Network Marketing, our main job as leaders is to help people overcome their fears and doubts. And eventually, the process and consistency will speak for themselves.
