Throughout the years I have been asked countless times what the “Secret” is to building a successful network marketing business. While there are a lot of different elements that are important to building your business, and very few that we might call critical, there is only one “Secret.”
First, before we give you the “Secret,” let’s understand some important things. Too many people falsely believe that if they just had the right script, the right product, the right training program, the right lead source or the right mentor then they could become successful. The truth is that while each of these can be important elements of their success, none of them stand alone as the “Secret.”
Many people believe that if they just had more time, a different personality, a better system, more experience, better education and even a bit of luck on their side then that would make all the difference. The truth is that all of these can be important (some more important than others!) but in reality…none of them come close to being so important that they can be considered the “Secret.”
We could talk about mastering specific skill sets, self-discipline, time management, resources, knowing their why, and dedication. But, again, while very important (some even critical!) none of these rise to a level of being the “Secret.”
Why do I mention all the above items? Because these are the things most people think about, talk about, teach and learn to believe are the “make or break” things to building a successful network marketing business. But…They are wrong!
Ultimate Success Secret: “Know your outcome before you start”! What is it you are trying to accomplish? Most people know what they don’t want…and they very often get it. The challenge is to focus on what you DO what and get it! Those who have not clearly defined their final outcome are guaranteed to focus on the wrong things along the way. Focusing on the wrong things is a prescription for failure.
When you go on a trip you are excited and focused on your destination so when you are faced with stop signs, roadblocks, or detours during your trip you may occasionally get frustrated…maybe even discouraged a little…but you don’t turn around and go back home! Why? Because you are focused on your ultimate destination and what it will be like when you finally get there, so the obstacles along the way are just part of the process. If you know your final outcome before you start, then the roadblocks you meet along the way simply won’t matter. Detours are not a big deal when you know the ultimate outcome of the journey.
Most people fail to have a clear picture of what the final outcome will look like…so…without that picture they never have any idea where they are in their journey to get there. And…without that knowledge they are doomed to failure. If you don’t know what your long-term final outcome looks like, you have no way to measure your progress and without such a measurement yardstick you simply cannot build a successful network marketing business because you will quit before you have a chance to succeed!
Take the time to first picture what your final outcome will be…what it will look like when you “arrive” at your destination…how will you know when you get there?
